National Burns Awareness Month: Keeping Our Kids Safe

At Wirrabirra Childcare Centre, safety is our top priority, which is why we support National Burns Awareness Month each June. Burns are a leading cause of injury among young children, but they’re preventable with the right knowledge and precautions. Here are some essential tips to keep your little ones safe:

  • Supervise Around Heat Sources: Always keep an eye on children around stoves, heaters, and hot surfaces.
  • Check Bathwater Temperature: Ensure bathwater is no hotter than 37–38°C to prevent scalds.
  • Install Barriers: Keep children away from hot appliances, and use protective barriers around open flames.
  • Teach Safety Early: Educate children on the dangers of fire and hot objects in an age-appropriate way.

At Wirrabirra, we integrate safety lessons into our daily routines, empowering children to be aware of their surroundings. Let’s work together to keep our kids safe!
